🌙 20. A Scented Letter: Ambre Samar – Spices, Honeyed Amber & Moonlight

Crafted by Guerlain perfumer Delphine Jelk, Ambre Samar is a vibrant composition where almond and frankincense swirl with cardamom, while amber, tonka, and patchouli ground the musky shimmer of Guerlain’s own ambergris tincture.

Ambre Samar is not a quiet amber. It’s a warm, flickering trail of light in the dark—a spicy, honeyed amber illuminated by a red moon. It opens with a sparkling lift—almost a fizzy, golden concoction of almond, frankincense, and cardamom—before melting into honeyed amber, tonka, and patchouli. There’s a mineral shimmer underneath that adds a sparkling lift and elegance. The 10ml Gold Travel Spray makes a beautiful gift.

It’s rich but not heavy, and wears like a warm glow on the skin. It’s an amber that shimmers and dances—its fizzy nature feels like the bubbles suspended in liquid heat in the image below. Photo: 'Cut and Paste' by Fanette Guilloud

Amouage Guidance 46 is a bit brighter than the original Amouage Guidance, where pear, saffron, and rose unfold over rich woods and ambergris. Dries Van Noten Soie Malaquais lingers with notes of blackcurrant, rose, and hazelnut—a silky composition that feels both luminous with a gourmand touch. And for a rare, luminous quietude, Amouage Existence glows with skin-warmed florals, aldehydes, and serene radiance—weightless but unforgettable.
