🕊 71. On Keeping the Heart Open: Scent, Silence, and Faith

👋 Hi fragrance friend,

In a country (United States) that can feel dishonest, judgmental, and cruel, I keep asking: how does the heart stay open? Scent, for me, is a small practice — not an escape, but a way to keep attention soft and present so I don’t harden. Beneath it all is prayer; my faith is the ground under my feet, quiet and steady. It hurts to watch the teachings of Jesus Christ be misconstrued and hijacked to justify harm against the most oppressed among us. That distortion is dishonest and harmful; it is the opposite of the Lord’s mercy.

In the wake of so much pain in a fracturing society, I’ve been drawn to perfumes that read as true: simple, luminous, intimate. Scents with nothing to prove, just a calm and breathable cloud.

There’s a kindness in that spaciousness; it asks me to slow down — inhale, exhale, notice the movements of my heart.

Some days I wear nothing and let silence speak. Other days I choose a sheer veil, close to skin, asking only for slow comfort. And on rare days, I reach for something bold to meet the moment’s intensity. Whatever the choice, the intention holds: protect clarity; soften edges; leave room for wonder.

If the world has been heavy for you, too, I hope you give yourself whatever keeps you open without armor. I’d love to hear what centers you when things feel brittle.

Wishing you gentleness, grounding, and the courage to keep your heart open.

With kindness,
🕊 Flor at Nectar Atelier

💌 Explore Scents to Love

Try Zouzou by Celine if you are drawn to nostalgic scents that feel like a golden cloud. For something equally soft, Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille offers golden warmth—boozy vanilla laced with incense and delicate woods, while Guerlain Gourmand Coquin wraps rose, cacao, and black tea in a swirl of spices—decadent yet tender. Amouage Guidance 46 is a bit brighter than the original Amouage Guidance, where pear, saffron, and rose unfold over rich woods and ambergris. Dries Van Noten Soie Malaquais lingers with notes of blackcurrant, rose, and hazelnut—a silky composition that feels both luminous with a gourmand touch. And for a rare, luminous quietude, Amouage Existence glows with skin-warmed florals, aldehydes, and serene radiance—weightless but unforgettable. If you are in the mood for a sparkling rose with dewy petals, try Little Flower by RĂ©gime des Fleurs.  As always, explore these scents through our luxe samples at Nectar Atelier, the perfect gift — always wrapped in eco-friendly packaging for an artful unboxing.
