96. Havana Gold Samples | Amber Tobacco for Fall | Perfume Review

👋 Hi fragrance friend,

I’ll admit it — Havana Gold by Dries Van Noten had me the moment I saw licorice, anise, and tobacco listed together. Some of my favorite notes. On my skin, it opens with a chewy, humid tobacco touched by soft suede and a trace of sweetness from the anise and licorice.

Havana Gold isn’t trying to reinvent tobacco or licorice; instead, it lets those notes unfold slowly — glowing and blending with ease. There’s a golden warmth that feels grounded and elegant. Unisex, slightly masculine-leaning, and beautifully balanced.

Havana Gold is not groundbreaking, but deeply enjoyable. Dries Van Noten did it again.

Autumn Light that Lingers

If sunlight could rest on skin, this is how it would feel — ambered, velvety, and alive. What I love about Havana Gold is that it never overpowers; it breathes softly, leaving behind a trace of warmth that lingers like memory. This feeling is perfectly echoed in the photo above, Sojourn by Franco Dupoy — soft light, golden air, and the calm beauty of stillness.

For something equally soft, Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille offers golden warmth—boozy vanilla laced with incense and delicate florals, while Guerlain Gourmand Coquin wraps rose, cacao, and black tea in a swirl of gentle spice. Amouage Guidance 46 is jammier than the original Amouage Guidance, where pear, saffron, and rose unfold over smooth woods and ambergris. Dries Van Noten Soie Malaquais stands out with notes of blackcurrant, rose, and hazelnut. And for a rare, luminosity, Amouage Existence glows with skin-warmed florals, aldehydes, and soft resins.
